Your New Iberia & Youngsville Orthodontist
Meet Dr. Chris Feldman
Dr. Chris Feldman, born and raised in New Iberia, is proud to serve the community he has always called home.
Dr. Feldman’s top priority is to give patients the smile they’ve always wanted, but his goals are about much more than that. He’s set on making each office visit a positive experience and building relationships with his patients and their loved ones.
“If you’re not making someone else’s life better, then you’re wasting your time. Your life will become better by making other people’s lives better.”
Why Orthodontics?
During his middle school years, Dr. Feldman’s desire to enter the orthodontic profession was sparked while he underwent orthodontic treatment. He was fascinated by the art and science involved and quickly recognized how creating an amazing smile could positively impact the lives of others.
After his own orthodontic treatment was complete, Dr. Feldman’s life began to change, and he attributes much of the change to the confidence he gained with his new smile.
Education & Experience
Early Excellence
While at New Iberia Freshman High and New Iberia Senior High, Dr. Feldman spent time playing football & soccer, boxing, and running track and field. At the same time, he excelled in academics and eventually graduated with a 4.0 from NISH, earning him the title of Valedictorian.
College Leadership
Dr. Feldman then attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in biology. While in college, he was the president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity & the Inter-Fraternity Council, a member of the Student Orientation Staff, and a board member of the St. Jude's Up Til’ Dawn Fundraiser. He graduated Summa Cumme Laude with a 3.97 GPA.
Dental School & Residency
Dr. Feldman was then accepted to the LSU School of Dentistry. His leadership continued: he served as class president as well as student government president for two years, all while scoring well enough to earn a spot as a resident at the Jacksonville University School of Orthodontics in Jacksonville, Florida. After spending 3 years as a resident, Dr. Feldman earned his Certificate in Orthodontics and came home to pursue his dream of opening a practice in New Iberia.
Outside of the Office
Dr. Feldman is very passionate about orthodontics but also has an exciting life outside of the office. First and foremost, he's a family man. He spends much of his off-time with his wife Krysta, or chauffeuring his children to dancing, jiu-jitsu classes, sports practices and games, or any other of their extracurricular activities.
Dr. Feldman would also love to think of himself as a way-above-average middle-aged endurance athlete. Most days of the week, before the sun comes up, Dr. Feldman can be found running many miles on the streets of Youngsville, lifting weights, or on a stationary bike or stair stepper, working on his cardio. He is an avid marathon and ultramarathon runner and has completed races of up to 100 miles! Although he loves to compete, his primary goals are health, longevity, being a model of grit and commitment, and using his training hours as quiet personal time to think, reflect, and be grateful for life and all its blessings.
He is also a Blue Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, where he spends 150-200 hours a year on the mats. He loves learning self-defense, but also appreciates both the glory and humility that come with competing in one-on-one sports.
Dr. Feldman is a foodie. When he has time to travel, he loves to visit other states and countries and is always excited to try the local cuisine. His favorite place to visit is New York City, mainly because of its wide array of restaurants (and epic running routes to burn off those calories to work up an appetite).
He’s an avid Saints fan and loves to attend their games, whether in the dome or on the road. He was even lucky enough to work on the sidelines for a few games. (Just ask—he’ll tell you all about it.)
